What it is

The AI business assessment is a structured review of how your business actually runs, day to day, with one question in mind: where could practical AI tools save you time or make you money? This is not a sales pitch for software, and it is not a technical audit. It is a business-first look at your operations, written for owners, not engineers.

The review covers four areas. First, an operations review: how work flows from first contact to final payment, and where it slows down or depends on one person's memory. Second, your customer touchpoints: every way a customer reaches you, including phone calls, texts, your website, social media, and walk-ins, and what happens at each one after hours, on weekends, and when you are on a job. Third, your cost centers: the tasks that eat payroll hours or your own evenings, such as scheduling, follow-up, paperwork, and bookkeeping. Fourth, quick-win automation opportunities: low-cost, low-risk uses of AI that fit a small business budget and can be set up without hiring staff or rebuilding anything.

Nothing in the assessment assumes you are technical. If you can run your business, you can read and use this report.

Why it matters

Most owners know they are busy, but they cannot see where the hours go. The assessment makes the invisible visible. It turns a vague feeling of "I need help" into a short list of specific fixes with a clear order, so you stop guessing and start with the change that pays back fastest.

The conversation about AI is usually aimed at large companies with IT departments. Small, minority-owned businesses are talked about last, if at all. This assessment flips that order. It starts from how your business works and finds the AI uses that pay for themselves first, so you adopt technology on your terms and on your timeline, not because a salesperson told you to.

It also protects you from buying the wrong tools. Owners get pitched software every week, and most of it solves problems they do not have. The assessment gives you a filter: if a tool does not address something on your prioritized list, you can say no with confidence and spend that money where it counts.

How the chamber delivers it

Three steps, built around your schedule. No homework beyond a short form and one conversation.

1

Intake form

A short form about your business: what you sell, how customers reach you, how big your team is, and what tools you already use. About ten minutes, no jargon.

2

Business walkthrough conversation

A guided conversation, about an hour, walking through a typical week: how jobs come in, how they get scheduled, how customers pay, and where things fall through the cracks.

3

Findings report

You receive a written report with what was found and a prioritized action list, so you know what to do first, what can wait, and what to skip entirely.

What you walk away with

A written findings report plus a prioritized action list, divided into quick wins you can act on now and longer-term projects to plan for.

✓ Missed-call capture

Ways to make sure every call gets answered, even after hours: the details get taken, and the job gets booked or the callback gets scheduled.

✓ Scheduling and booking

Online booking, automated confirmations, and reminders that cut down on no-shows and free up the person currently doing it all by hand.

✓ Customer follow-up

Thank-you messages, review requests, and check-ins that bring past customers back, running without you having to remember each one.

✓ Bookkeeping automation

Receipt capture, invoice reminders, and cleaner records with less manual entry, so your books stay current instead of piling up.

✓ Marketing support

Steady outreach to past customers and consistent social content without hiring a marketer, focused on the channels your customers actually use.

✓ Your prioritized action list

Every finding ranked by impact and effort, so you know exactly what to do first, what to plan for later, and what is not worth your time.
